Avery Carlson is a 4th-year English major/Psychology minor and is also involved in UVA’s Catalyst Program. She loves to read, with her favorite genres/authors being Science Fiction (Jeff Vandermeer, Andy Weir, Neal Shusterman) and Historical Fiction (Michael Morpurgo)--she is open to recommendations for new genres/authors! This is her first year at the Writing Center and she looks forward to helping other students, learning about them as writers and people, and learning from them, too. Avery can also be found climbing at Slaughter, baking at home, or at the UVA Rowing Boathouse, as she is a coxswain for the men’s team.
